TEHRAN Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh said here Tuesday that in international agreements, political and economic issues should be given separate considerations.
On the issue of gas export prices being quoted as high thus dissuading potential buyers from purchasing gas from Iran, he said, "Gas has conventional rates and it is essential to separate political issues from economic ones." Turning to the Parliament's vote to earmark a certain percentage of revenues from oil exports to the oil-rich regions, he added that contrary to what has been said against the bill, it (bill) generates no revenues for the Oil Ministry.
On the issue of potential discrimination between the different regions with the passage of the bill, Zangeneh said, "Justice is not the same as equality and various regions should be treated according to their individual needs and capabilities." (IRNA)
